With over a million followers on YouTube and Instagram each, Samuels’ takes on “high value men” and “leftover women” often became fodder for online conversations about dating, sex, marriage, and more. Some say he was a ‘God Send’ with his advice for today’s aspiring person. Some felt he was a bad influence and degrading to women. Either way, if you knew of him you had an opinion.

Samuels got his start in public relations and image consulting – recommending shoes and fragrances for men to use to attract women. He parlayed his conversations with his clients into becoming a media figure in his own right, and started streaming his thoughts on relationships His popularity rose quickly in recent years as started featuring call-in shows with people calling in on Instagram Live or Zoom asking for advice (and sometimes pushing back) about dating. Responding to his critics, he positioned himself as a feminist in a recent video. “For someone to say I hate women is a willful, ignorant position,” he said.

Samuels’ mother, Beverly Samuels-Burch, confirmed his death to NBC News but declined to release details about what happened, saying that she learned of her son’s death from social media. “That was a terrible thing for social media to put that out. I didn’t even know. I hadn’t even been notified,” she told NBC in a phone call on May 6th.”All I’m doing is requesting that people pray for us.

Samuels told the podcast No Jumper, that when he was 21 he was diagnosed with stage 3 Hodgkin lymphoma. “I’ve always known that we’re on borrowed time,” he said. “Through hook or crook, I wanna be the best at what I do to get the most out of this life. Because it’s not promised to us.”

On May 7th,  Rapper T.I. hopped on his Instagram Live to address people who had commented that “Kevin Samuels wasn’t doing good in the community” and the hearing of his passing was good news ,accused people of bullying a deceased person ,“The shit is f@%king a travesty of justice,” T.I. barked. “I can’t stand it, I can’t stand it. I ain’t gon’ let y’all bully this dead man. We gon’ let this man rest in peace.” “Whatever he did, he did it and [he’s] gone. He got away with it, f@%k ya,” he continued. “That’s between him and God. Him and the Lord gon’ have to deal with it. You ain’t got no heaven or hell to put him in.” “I want to see who the f@%k [wants] to say something to me, while I’m still alive,” he concluded. Is it too late to judge his deeds? Should we be judging this man, or anyone else for that matter? What do you think?
